Ahh… fall in Florida. Mother nature doesn’t offer a ton of fall colors down here in the sunshine state. She definitely doesn’t disappoint with the beautiful, mild weather! doesn’t disappoint! Bri and Matt are planning their wedding at Congaree and Penn and couldn’t imagine their engagement pictures anywhere else!
This November day at Congaree and Penn was drenched in sunshine, a comfortable breeze, and a whole lot of magic. My favorite part about spending the day with these two was learning all about Congaree and Penn and feeling the passion Bri and Matt had for it. Congaree and Penn isn’t just a pretty wedding venue, it was chosen because their relationship grew here.
The restaurant at Congaree and Penn are where Bri and Matt celebrate birthdays, have date nights, and stoke their fire. It’s part of their story. Bri is so excited to get married at this beautiful farm knowing that it isn’t a venue she will only see for her wedding day, but will be part of her family for years and years to come.
Shopping for a brand new outfit is something fun and exciting to do for your engagement sessions. I always emphasize how important it is for their outfits to be comfortable. If you do decide to get everything brand new (and really, who can blame you!?), make sure you wear it at least once before your shoot to make sure it fits and feels great. Which especially important for things like shoes, which can cause all kinds of problems if they aren’t broken in properly!
If the location allows, I love seeing my couples bring their sweet pups! There are a few things to consider before bringing your furbaby. They need to be super well behaved (or have someone there to watch them while we finish your session.) Also make sure that, if we are planning a hike, that your pooch can handle the adventure! Other than that, pups are a great addition to your engagement photos! If you want them there, let’s make that happen!
Take some time the day before your shoot to get everything together, cleaned, ironed, and steamed! Make sure your accessories are in one place, any wrinkles in your clothing are history, and any stains/spots are busted well before the shoot. I’ll remind you that your session is coming up a few days beforehand, so you’ll have plenty of time and no excuses to be well prepared. Being relaxed before your session is key to beautiful, natural engagement photos.
Ladies, this is a big one! I always tell my clients to think very seriously about having hair and makeup professionally styled for their engagement photos. This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for you. Hiring a professional will ensure you look your absolute best on camera.
I recommend that my couples wear outfits that complement each other rather than match. What does that mean? Well, try not to wear the exact same colors (you aren’t twins!), but do pick colors that go well together. Match each other’s outfit in terms of formality rather than literal colors and patterns. Don’t forget, you can always text me the pictures of your outfit ideas, I am happy to help!
Hiring a professional wedding and engagement photographer you absolutely love and click with is such an important step to make sure that you can capture all the amazing moments you will have at your wedding. These photographs will act as a ticket for traveling back in time and having a look at all the beautiful memories you created with your loved ones.
I have been working as a professional photographer for over 8 years. Throughout that time I realized that the intimate moments in between the poses were the ones most cherished. My wedding and portrait work has been seen in places like The Knot, Wedding Wire, The Carolinas Magazine, Embrace Beauty Magazine, and many other leading industry publications. I’m sincerely grateful for every single one of them, and for the others yet to come. But none of that matters without the experience, the fun, and the results that everyone feels when they look back through their photographs. If you think we’d make an amazing fit contact me today and let’s chat about your wedding!
